Getting Ready--

There are so many things that need to be fixed on the "old" 2001 Four Winds RV before it is "sea-worthy" of the long journey.  I got a new roof and all new roof vents on it last fall, along with new window seals.   John Veneziano has been busy putting new brakes on all 4 wheels, putting in 10 new spark plugs and an ignition coil since 2/10 cylinders were not firing, tightening the side-view mirror and adding air to the tires - which seem to be put on wrong, so I have to have that checked out at Joe Myers tires this week.  Jatin Gupta helped me replace the relay that sends DC power to the living area so the power stays on.  I installed a new DC-powered TV/VCR combo unit and mount and fixed a bad radio speaker in the back.  I installed all new detectors - fire, CO, and LP gas.   I re-modeled the small bed by cutting off the back of one of the table benches so the passenger seat can lean back and the table area is a decent bed length. I re-painted the rusty refrigerator shelves and cleaned out the fridge.  I hope the crack in the windshield stays put until the end of the trip.  The biggest problem left is to find the proper parking brake cable (since the one that was in it is too short so doesn't connect).  I modified the old pool ladder to use as a light-weight ladder to get into the over-cab bed.  The next big project is to get all of Jamie's stuff that she needs for her apartment into the RV without clogging the living area since we need it for 3 people (and our stuff for the trip)- Jamie, Nick and me.  We also will bring some outdoor camping stuff - for sleeping outdoors if we want and to loan to Mindy and Jay who will hike to the base of the Grand Canyon and camp overnight.

We are a little over a week away from the start of the trip - so much to do yet to get ready!!!
